I own a 2004.5 Dodge Ram 3500 SRW short box mated to the NV5600. I purchased the truck in October and it was already lifted 6" sitting on 37" Toyo's. However, the truck still had the stock 3.73 gearing. I noticed the truck struggling to find a sweet spot for cruising speeds both around town and highway. On my way down to Tennessee in the end of March, I realized even with an Edge JWA programmer, the truck struggled to hit 70 MPH & maintaining that speed without the EGT's skyrocketing. Thus being a manual transmission, every time I would shift regardless of the gear or RPM, It would lag at the bottom end of the power band before getting up to speed also, EGT's were high even if the Edge was set on moderate or low setting & that's with a 63MM turbo. I knew I needed to get a axle gear swap in order for this truck to perform optimally. On my day off, I decided to swing by Jason's to get an estimate. Jason sat me down and spent some time with me, giving me a list of option that would be best and said 4.56 are the way to go. I would also contact three other shops locally to get estimates, but in the end I went with Jason's. I'm more than happy with the work Jason and his team have done and the price was very reasonable for the work and the quality. The gear swap has improved my trucks drivablility and performance very much and has also improved my MPG with moderately aggressive highway driving being 16 MPG hand calc'd. Around town driving I'm mostly in 5th gear and highway I'm doing 65-67 MPH at 2K RPM and dropped my EGT's considerably. If you want/need quality work done to your truck- look no further.
